Shock-rock pioneer Alice Cooper returns to the intimate Pearl Concert Theater inside Palms Casino Resort on Nov. 26, 2014 at 8 p.m.
Alice Cooper pioneered a grandly theatrical brand of hard rock that was designed to shock. Drawing equally from horror movies, vaudeville and garage rock, the group created a stage show that featured electric chairs, guillotines, fake blood and boa constrictors. He continues to tour regularly world-wide, running through a string of hits including “Welcome to My Nightmare,” “School’s Out,” “Poison” and “No More Mr. Nice Guy” and of course accompanied by the dark and horror-themed theatrics that he’s best known for.
Cooper and the other members of the original Alice Cooper band were inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in March 2011 and Cooper was also featured in the Tim Burton film “Dark Shadows” in 2012.
In June 2014, the DVD “Super Duper Alice Cooper” was released by Eagle Rock Entertainment. Noted as the first-ever “doc opera” film, it showcases a dizzying blend of documentary archive footage, animation and rock opera. “Super Duper Alice Cooper” is the story of a preacher’s son who struck fear into the hearts of parents everywhere as the ultimate rock star of the bizarre, Alice Cooper. Cooper’s story is told not only by the man himself, but through exclusive interviews with members of the original Alice Cooper band, Elton John, Iggy Pop, John Lydon and Dee Snider.
With his influence on rock ‘n roll long since acknowledged, there is little that Alice Cooper hasn’t achieved in his remarkable career, the list includes platinum albums, sold-out tours and numerous honors and career achievement awards. As he heads back out on the concert trail each year, Cooper insists he’s still motivated to continue touring and recording albums – 2011’s Welcome 2 My Nightmare debuted at No. 22 on the Billboard 200, No. 6 on the Hard Rock Albums chart and No. 11 on Rock Albums chart – as well as making time for such side projects as Cooper’stown (his Phoenix-based restaurant/sports bar) and his nightly radio show “Nights With Alice Cooper,” syndicated domestically and worldwide on more than 100 stations.
