This Las Vegas Company Mixes Cosmetics with Safety

A Las Vegas company named Esoes Cosmetics is coming out with a new product that mixes makeup and women’s safety.

Local resident Joy Hoover, the founder of Esoes Cosmetics, is one a mission to help women stay safe across the region — whether they’re having a night on the town at the best Tiki bars in Las Vegas or a quiet drink at a daytime lounge or club.

That’s where Esoes Cosmetics comes in. The company makes lipsticks in five different colors, but they all have a secret. Hoover told 8 News that the idea behind them is “covert safety.”

Basically, each Esoes Cosmetics lipstick comes with roofie test strips that you can dip into a drink. Once you test a drink, you just put the test strip back into the lipstick, and in a few minutes, it’ll determine whether the drink has been spiked or not.

That’s not the only trick beyond this spy-like lipstick. The lipstick itself also comes with a panic button that connects to a customizable safety app.

With 24/7 monitoring, the safety app lets users send messages or phone calls to their chosen contacts with the push of the panic button. Once it’s been activated, the app will dispatch first responders to the user’s location if they don’t answer a call or if they input the wrong secret PIN number.

Back in July, Hoover officially opened the product for orders. So far, she has received more than 75,000 orders from people all across the country.

The Esoes Cosmetics starter pack comes with a single lipstick color and test strips, and costs $65. There are currently five colors available, and users can also order additional test strips for $3 a piece.
