A Visitors Guide to Legally Consuming Cannabis in Vegas

When Nevada voters casted their ballots in 2016 to legalize recreational cannabis for those 21 and older, a “bud rush” ensued in Las Vegas—opening the way to millions of dollars in state revenue and over 50 dispensaries in Clark County alone.

Just because Nevada legalized cannabis doesn’t mean you can light up—or whichever way you prefer to consume—anywhere you want to.

We’ve compiled a guide to where you can and can’t legally consume pot in Vegas:

Where You Can’t:

In Public Places

Whether you’re walking down The Strip or around a residential neighborhood, public consumption is a misdemeanor offense that can carry a $600 fine.

In a Casino

Despite Vegas being a party hub, there are currently no casinos that allow marijuana on their properties.

In a Vehicle

It’s illegal to consume pot in any form while either driving, riding as a passenger, or sitting in a parked car. Driving while using can land you with a DUI the same way alcohol can.

On Federal Land

Sorry, if you were thinking about rolling a joint for a day at Lake Mead. Given that marijuana is still federally illegal, consumption on all federal land is prohibited.

Where You Can:

At a Private Residence

Nevada law allows for marijuana to be consumed inside a private residence, but it all comes down to the property owner’s discretion.

NuWu Cannabis Marketplace

1235 PAIUTE CIRCLE LAS VEGAS, NV 89106

Located near the Fremont Street Experience, this cannabis consumption lounge is currently the only one of its kind in the state. While the Nevada Legislature has postponed any discussion of opening any other lounges until July 2021, this lounge is able to legally operate due to its location on sovereign land owned by the Las Vegas Paiute Tribe.

The lounge offers several ways you can consume marijuana including pipes, prerolls, concentrates, and edibles.
