Local Business Giving More Than Gift Baskets

Any Occasion Baskets is not a nonprofit, but Co-founder Felicia Parker and her team believe they are called to give back to their community through the business.

“I wanted to start a business, but I also want to give back, so that has always been a focus in my business,” Parker said. “I’m here to give back and here to serve people ― and honor God in doing so. ”

Any Occasion Baskets started as a hobby for Parker and was established as a business with her husband in August 2016. The team provides gift baskets for holidays, house warmings and other special occasions filled with food, books, candles, body products and a variety of items that allow the team to “provide joy, one gift basket at a time”and customers to “get a little creative and put a twist on gift-giving,” Parker said. And as people support her business, they are providing opportunities to share gratitude.

That gratitude comes in the form of donating up to 20 percent of the business’ yearly revenue, as well as baskets and other physical donations being given to entities such as:
The Women's Resource Medical Centers of Southern Nevada
Hospitals in the Las Vegas Valley through the company’s Thank You from a Distance campaign
The Stupak Community Center
Hope for Prisoners
Project 150
The Clark County School District
Local small businesses

As a woman of faith, Parker said God is at the center of her business, and everything from the way she prices and markets the products to how she gives back through the business is done with an eye toward honoring God.

“We want people to see that we do business differently. … Giving back to the community and glorifying God with our business is at the heart of what we do,” she said. “I am the expression of God’s love on Earth, and I’m supposed to be his hands and feet. … He loved on people, so if I can meet the needs of people ― whether that’s food, clothes, paper to do their schoolwork on, whatever it is ― I want to do what’s in my power to do, and I hope they see the love of God in that expression.”

As a mother, wife and small-business owner, Parker is also drawn to organizations that benefit children and families. But her overall goal is to make her community a better place and to inspire others to do the same.

“I want to change and impact my community for the better, and if I can do that one donation at a time, I want to do that,” Parker said. “We have the means and the opportunity to give back to somebody, and when we do, it makes us as a community all the better.”
