Foreigner to Perform with Basic High School Concert Choir at Green Valley Ranch April 29

As part of the band Foreigner’s charity partnership with the Grammy Association, they will host the Basic High School Concert Choir during a performance of the band’s 1984 hit “I Want to Know What Love Is” on Friday, April 29, 2011, during their concert at the Grand Events Center inside Green Valley Ranch.

Foreigner has partnered with the Grammy Association to support their mission of restoring instrumental music education in America’s public schools, and raising awareness about the importance of music as part of each child’s complete education.

“As far as I’m concerned, music is not only the most powerful form of communication between the peoples of the world, it provides a gateway that opens up a fantastic new dimension of feeling and creative, and anything we can do to provide our young ones with the tools to express themselves through music, is our goal in this partnership,” Foreigner Guitarist Mick Jones said.

As part of the partnership, Foreigner is donating $1,000 to the Basic H.S. Concert Choir to use towards its music program.

The latest Foreigner CD, Can’t Slow Down, will be made available for purchase to concertgoers before and after the concert. For $20, the buyer receives Foreigner’s new three-disc set and a raffle ticket. An autographed Foreigner guitar will be raffled off at the end of the concert. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the CDs will go to the Grammy Association program.

Foreigner has also been involved with other charities including the Red Cross, the Shriners Children’s Hospitals and the VH-1 Save the Music charity, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for these worthy causes.

The Foreigner concert will be inside the Grand Events Center at Green Valley Ranch on Friday, April 29 at 8 p.m. Tickets are on sale now for $25, $35, $45 and $55 plus tax and applicable fees.
