English indie rockers Glass Animals and Canadian pop punk favorites Sum 41 are heading to Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas to headline shows in May. The bands join an already crowded month of shows, including performances by As The Crow Flies, Mac Sabbath, Beats Antique (DJ Set), An Evening with Peter Hook and The Light, SOJA and Sofi Tukker (Pictured: Glass Animals).
GLASS ANIMALS
FRIDAY, MAY 18 at 7:30 P.M.
Glass Animals, who have burst onto the touring and festival scene as crowd favorites in recent years, are coming to Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas. Dave Bayley (lead vocals, guitar), Drew MacFarlane (guitar, keys, backing vocals), Edmund Irwin-Singer (bass, keys, backing vocals) and Joe Seaward (drums) released their debut album “Zaba” in the summer of 2014 and never looked back. Their sophomore effort, “How to Be a Human Being,” rose to critical acclaim after its 2016 release, leading to performances at Austin City Limits, Summer Well, Glastonbury, Coachella, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Reading/Leeds, Falls Festival and more.
Glass Animals’ style on “How to Be a Human Being,” utilizing sampled audio and live recordings taken by Bayley on his mobile phone, lends itself to personal connection. Fans able to catch the show at Brooklyn Bowl should expect nothing less.
“I try to sneakily record people, and I have hours and hours of these amazing rants from taxi drivers, people we met outside of shows, people at parties…” said Bayley, noting that he approached the album like a screenwriter would approach a script, developing characters. “I’d obsess over what they ate, where they lived, what their furniture looked like, what they wore…some of it’s quite autobiographical but said through the eyes of someone else.”
Glass Animals at Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas is for ages 18 and up. Venue presale tickets are available Thursday Feb. 15, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. PT using password “PORKSODA.” General admission tickets start at $37 (plus applicable service fees) and are on sale to the public on Friday, Feb. 16, at 10 a.m. PT at the Brooklyn Bowl box office, by calling 877.987.6487 or online at http://ticketf.ly/2F1lAOE.

THURSDAY, MAY 24 at 7:30 P.M.
Sum 41 are celebrating 15 years since the release of their second studio album “Does This Look Infected?” with an anniversary tour, making a stop at Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas on Thursday, May 24. Singer Deryck Whibley said, “This year was meant to be spent working on new music, and I hadn’t even realized it was the 15-year anniversary of ‘does this look infected?’ Out of nowhere we started to receive messages from fans asking us to do another anniversary tour, and when fans call, we go. This time around is going to be even more special because we have Dave “Brown Sound” Baksh with us. So back by popular demand, we’ll see you on the road!”
Sum 41 released their last album “13 Voices” in 2016, reaching #9 on the Billboard Top Albums chart. The 10-track album recorded, produced and engineered by Whibley at his Los Angeles home marks the band’s first LP in five years.
