Lil Wayne to Perform at The Pearl at The Palms Mar. 28

Lil WayneWith a new album on the horizon, slated for release on May 19, 2009, Lil Wayne brings his unique and easy flow to The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort on Saturday, March 28, 2009. Gym Class Heroes will join Lil Wayne as a special guest.

Born DeWayne Michael Carter, Jr. and raised in New Orleans’ infamously poor Hollygrove neighborhood, Lil Wayne was discovered by Cash Money CEO Brian “Birdman” Williams and unquestionably will go down in history as the best rapper of his generation. One look at Lil Wayne’s impeccable track record will convince even the most ardent skeptic that the lyricist is a strong contender for such an honor.

In the span of his 13-year career, Lil Wayne has sold more than six million units including The Carter II (2005) which sold more than 2.5 million units. He has been featured on numerous high profile singles and in the past two years he has recorded more than 1,000 songs and freestyles.

His highly anticipated sixth album The Carter III (2008) further solidified Lil Wayne’s career and legacy and pushed him to even greater heights. With production by Alchemist, Cool & Dre, David Banner, Kanye West and Jim Jonsin, to name a few, and guest appearances by some of today’s premier recording artists including T-Pain, Bobby Valentino, Babyface, Juelz Santana and Fabolous, as well as a guest appearance by the legendary R&B singer Ms. Betty Wright, Tha Carter III was an eclectic collection of 15 songs that range from simply brilliant to sheer genius.

The single “Lollipop,” featuring Static Major, was the lead single boasting Lil Wayne’s clever lyrics laced with racy double entendres over a funky slow burning beat. In “Mr. Carter” featuring Jay-Z, we find the two trading introspective lyrics about their lives and legacy in the rap game with Wayne at his lyrical best. Lil Wayne’s most recent LP, Rebirth, with a new release date of May 19, 2009, is another extremely anticipated release from the artist who recently racked up four Grammy awards.
