Musician Chris Isaak to Appear at The Orleans Showroom Feb. 13-15

In the course of Chris Isaak’s career, he has released nine extraordinary albums, twelve singles, has been nominated for two Grammy Awards, acted in several motion pictures and starred in his own critically acclaimed television series.

Chris was born in Stockton, California. His mother Dorothy, an Italian-American from Genoa, was a potato chip factory worker, and his father Joe was a forklift driver.

In 1984, Chris signed a contract with Warner Brothers and released his first album entitled Silverstone. The tracks Gone Ridin’ and Livin’ for Your Lover are from this album and were featured in David Lynch’s cult classic Blue Velvet. After the release of his second album, Chris Isaak, he began an acting career with a bit part in Jonathan Demme’s 1988 film entitled, Married to the Mob. Later on he would have parts in Wild at Heart, The Silence of the Lambs, and A Dirty Shame, as well as starring in his own situation comedy series for the Showtime Cable Network.

In 1989, Chris released Heart Shaped World that included the single Wicked Game. An instrumental version of a Wicked Game was later featured in David Lynch’s Wild at Heart. Soon the single became a Top Ten hit and the album also made it into the Top Ten selling over one million copies.

In 1999, Chris’s Baby Did a Bad, Bad Thing was featured in Stanley Kubrick’s final film, Eyes Wide Shut starring Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman. The song is on his 1995 album Forever Blue.

Chris also composed a theme song for the US late-night television variety/talk show, The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn. In 2001, Chris starred in his own television show, The Chris Isaak Show. This adult comedy show featured Chris Isaak and his band playing themselves with the episode plots based on fictional accounts of the backstage world of Chris Isaak, the rock star next door.

Chris’s latest album Best of Chris Isaak has an accompanying DVD that features 18 video clips directed by such esteemed directors as Gus Van Sant, Bruce Weber and Herb Ritts. The album displays Chris’s many different musical personas: the rockabilly rebel (Dancin’, Baby Did a Bad, Bad Thing, Speak Of The Devil), the brokenhearted crooner (Wicked Game, Somebody’s Crying), and the breezy acoustic storyteller (San Francisco Days, Two Hearts). The album also includes two brand new songs, the elegant King Without A Castle and the break-up exhortation Let’s Have A Party. The long awaited album also includes two covers: Cheap Trick’s power-pop anthem I Want You To Want Me, a live favorite previously unavailable on any of his CDs, and an inspired version of his hero Roy Orbison’s classic lovelorn balled Only The Lonely, and a never before heard acoustic version of Forever Blue.
