Las Vegas’ very own headlining magicians, Penn & Teller were spotted at CDI Studios last Friday filming their public service announcement to encourage the Valley community in joining them as they serve as the Grand Marshals for the 19th Annual AIDS Walk Las Vegas, April 19.  For the seventh consecutive year, Penn & Teller will host the Penn & Teller Challenge as their AIDS Walk team. As they discuss in the PSA, Penn & Teller promises to match all monetary funds raised by pledges and donations to Aid for AIDS of Nevada (AFAN). This challenge raised more than $100,000 in 2008, and this year, they hope for the biggest team the AIDS Walk has seen yet.

Aid for AIDS of Nevada (AFAN) was founded in 1984 and is the oldest and largest AIDS service organization in the state of Nevada. 2009 marks AFAN’s 25th anniversary of practicing its unyielding commitment to the community by providing unparalleled health expertise, support and advocacy for adults and children living with and affected by HIV/AIDS in southern Nevada. The AIDS Walk serves as AFAN’s largest fundraiser of the year, providing funds for programs to assist and educate more than 3,000 men, women and children infected with HIV and AIDS in Southern Nevada. For the past 18 years, the AIDS Walk has drawn in an increasing number of participants and in 2008 drew more than 7,000 people and raised more than $500,000. The goal this year is to exceed last year’s attendance and to raise more money than last year’s AIDS Walk.
