Stone Temple Pilots to Perform at The Pearl January 2

Rockers Stone Temple Pilots return to The Pearl Concert Theater inside the Palms on Friday, January 2, 2009 at 8:00 p.m.

Stone Temple Pilots, commonly called STP, hit the rock scene in the early ’90s with their debut album Core. The band quickly gained a large fan base with hits like “Sex Type Thing,” “Creep” and “Plush,” which subsequently won them a Grammy for “Best Hard Rock Performance.” Purple, the group’s sophomore effort, shot straight to number one on the Billboard charts and featured the singles, “Vasoline,” “Big Empty” and modern rock classic, “Interstate Love Song.”

For their third album in 1996, Stone Temple Pilots took a Beatlesque psychedelic approach and produced hits such as “Big Bang Baby,” “Trippin’ on a Hole in a Paper Heart” and “Lady Picture Show.” The fourth album returned to a more rock-based sound and spawned one of STP’s biggest hits, “Sour Girl.” Two years later, the group released Shangri-La Dee Da before deciding to go their separate ways. Last year the band reunited and toured – the band’s first time touring in almost eight years.
