The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas brings TV On The Radio and Arctic Monkeys with special guests Smith Westerns to The Boulevard Pool on Friday, September 23. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the show is scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m.

TV On The Radio is a Brooklyn-based band that was formed in 2001 and includes members Tunde Adebimpe, Kyp Malone, Dave Sitek, and Jaleel Bunton. The band does not consider their music traditional pop as they often change direction two or three times in one song bringing forth a thrilling and energetic musical experience. Distorted guitars and sauntering and reverberating bass has become somewhat of a signature of the band, particularly matched with Adebimpe’s serene and poetic vocals.
Arctic Monkeys’ incredible success is the stuff that dreams are made of. British alternative rock is in the rudest health it has been for years and a lot of that has been credited to the Arctic Monkeys – Jamie Cook, Matt Helders, Nick O’Malley and Alex Turner. The four friends formed the band in 2002 and a clutch of early gigs saw unprecedented levels of devotion swelling in Sheffield following their first show in 2003. The buzz quickly spread and grew organically and by the time the band signed with Domino Records in June 2005 their signature tunes were firm folk favorites. Audiences were stunned by the strength of their songs, tickled by Turner’s skewed social realist lyrics and seduced by the intensity of their live performances.
Both bands are touring in support of their new albums: Nine Types of Light (Interscope), the fourth studio album from TV On The Radio and Suck It and See (Domino), Arctic Monkeys’ fourth album.
TV on the Radio released Nine Types of Light, in April 2011. The album was hailed by Rolling Stone as “pure heaven.” The band’s breakout record, Return to Cookie Mountain, received more unanimous acclaim in 2006 than any other album, topping the Village Voice’s Pazz & Jop Poll voted by roughly 800 critics. Dear Science, released in 2008, was named album of the year by Rolling Stone, Spin, Pitchfork, Entertainment Weekly and MTV. Touring behind Dear Science saw the band sell out a year’s worth of live shows across the globe.
Suck It and See (Domino) is light and airy, filmic but intimate, carefully arranged but deceptively powerful. Recorded at Sound City Studios in Los Angeles with long-time producer/collaborator James Ford, it has a summery pop feel; with the bulk of work completed on the West Coast during January, it’s got the feel-good sound of stealing some winter sun, and some out of season Vitamin D.
Smith Westerns will join TV On The Radio and Arctic Monkeys. Smith Westerns are Cullen Omori, Max Kakacek and Cameron Omori. Since forming in 2007, Smith Westerns have toured both the United States and Europe while supporting the likes of MGMT, Florence and the Machine, Belle and Sebastian, Girls, and Passion Pit. In the summer of 2010, Smith recorded their sophomore effort, Dye it Blonde. Released at the beginning of 2011, Dye it Blonde is a beautifully clean high quality recording of lushly layered pop songs.
