AFAN Receives Overwhelming Community Support for Holiday Toy Drive 2010

AFAN Receives Overwhelming Community Support for Holiday Toy Drive 2010
AFAN (Aid for AIDS of Nevada)
has received an incredible support this holiday season for its Annual Toy Dive. Over the past month, volunteers and advocates have urged the community to donate a new, unwrapped toy to benefit the organization’s children (ages 0-15) affected by HIV/AIDS.  Donors also had the option to sponsor a child and an individual wish list or make a monetary donation.

As the drive wrapped up on December 15, the AFAN offices were flooded with gifts, taking up every inch of free space in the building. Thousands of toys were accepted from donors across the Las Vegas Valley, helping this year’s efforts provide 180 children with a happy holiday season, 80 more than last year.

“We are absolutely thrilled with the turnout this year,” said Jennifer Morss, executive director of AFAN. “We know several toy drives have struggled during these difficult economic times, and we are so thankful our supporters, donors and friends were passionate in contributing to help these children experience a joyous holiday season.”
