Today, as part of its Cowabunga Bay Cares program, Cowabunga Bay Water Park invited St. Jude’s Ranch for Children to bring an estimated 75 brothers and sisters together after being separated in the Southern Nevada foster care system.
“We are the only nonprofit in Clark County with a program dedicated to preserving sibling bonds between children and youth in foster care,” said St. Jude’s Ranch for Children Executive Director Christina Vela. “We are so grateful to Cowabunga Bay and Shane Hush for creating this special event for our children.”
The sibling groups are comprised of children, teens and young adults that have been separated in the community foster care system with few mandated chances to see each other throughout the year. This kick-off to summer event will bring them together to spend critical time together reconnecting and creating memories all while having fun in the sun on Cowabunga Bay’s water slides and attractions.
“I am so excited to welcome back St Jude’s Ranch for the fourth time since we began hosting this inspirational event,” said Shane Huish, General Manager of Cowabunga Bay Waterpark. “I am thrilled on behalf of Cowabunga Bay to provide this fun opportunity to reunite these families for a fun day at the park and we look forward to seeing their happy faces every season. We are pleased to help this important mission and contribute back all summer with our continued Cowabunga Cares program to benefit causes that impact Southern Nevada.”
St. Jude’s Ranch for Children’s Sibling Preservation Program helps preserve the critical sibling bond for brothers and sisters separated in foster care by providing opportunities for them to spend time together and build on their relationship throughout the year.
