Community Comes Together for Seventh Annual Sheriff Salutes the Best of the Badge Gala as 70 Honorees Receive Medals
On Friday, Sept. 13, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) Foundation hosted the seventh annual Sheriff Salutes the Best of the Badge Gala at Wynn Las Vegas. Throughout the night, more than 1,000 attendees celebrated and praised the 70 officers who were honored for their valiant efforts in the line of duty (Pictured: Igor Soldo & Alyn Beck family members accept Purple Heart award posthumously).

LVMPD presented the following awards: the Purple Heart, Medal of Honor, Medal of Valor, Unit Citation for Valorous Conduct and the newest accolade, the Preservation of Life award. Three of the Purple Heart medals were awarded posthumously. Officers Alyn Beck, Igor Soldo and retired officer Charles Collingwood received the medal for their dedication and heroism. Additionally, one special award was given to Knight, a beloved and hardworking canine in the LVMPD K-9 Unit.

“Tonight, we heard some incredible stories of the heroic actions our officers take on a daily basis,” said Tom Kovach, executive director of the LVMPD Foundation. “The gala serves as the LVMPD Foundation’s largest fundraiser and we’re thrilled to see it continue to grow each year.”

This year’s gala raised more than $700,000, which will directly support essential advanced officer training programs, the purchase of critical equipment and technology for the Department, the construction of a new Reality Based Training Center and much more.
