For a fun family outing, fireworks show and panoramic views of the Las Vegas Valley, mark your calendar for Thursday, July 4 for the Stars, Stripes & Sparks Independence Day celebration at Knickerbocker Park in the Providence master planned community.

The free event will feature the crowd-pleasing Tony Marques Band, contests and more, beginning at 6 p.m. and culminating with fireworks around 9:15 p.m. The park’s design and northwest Las Vegas site provide a great vantage point overlooking the city.
Fireworks show by Pyrotecnico
Last year’s inaugural event was such a huge success with an estimated 5,000 people that sponsors, the Providence Master Planned Community, Pyrotecnico and the Providence Master Homeowners Association, are presenting it again.
Event attendees are invited to bring picnic baskets, chairs and coolers. Various food and treat options will be available for purchase.
No alcohol, glass or outside fireworks, including sparklers, are permitted in the park.
Pyrotecnico, one of the country’s most creative fireworks display, pyrotechnics and special effects companies, is creating the special Stars, Stripes & Sparks show. The 15-minute extravaganza will incorporate a variety of multi-color, pattern, color-changing and special effects shells and barrages to the music of traditional and contemporary patriotic songs, along with some pop music favorites. Some of the songs will include: “Little Pink Houses,” “Courtesy of The Red White and Blue,” “American Soldier,” “Proud to be an American,” and “The Star Spangled Banner.”
Popular Tony Marques has a brand new band. Since debuting in February, this highly energetic, crowd-interactive band has been making a lot of people smile and drawing packed houses. Marques’ impressive list of accomplishments includes performances at Las Vegas’ NFR, PBR and NASCAR events, and opening for Jason Aldean, Chris Cagle, Charlie Daniels and countless others.
Contests for all ages will be held with prizes for the top winners. Competitions may cover hula hooping, pie eating and “Who Can Do It Better?” Details and sign-up forms will be at the Providence Master Homeowners Association table.
Representatives from nearby Henry and Evelyn Bozarth Elementary School will sell red, white and blue glow-in-the-dark necklaces for donations. Event attendees also are invited to bring new and gently used books for Spread the Word Nevada. The nonprofit organization promotes literacy to make it possible for all children in Nevada to experience the magic of books.
Providence’s fun-loving community mascot will join the July 4 festivities. P.D., as the 7-foot-tall, caramel-colored “Providence Dog” is affectionately called, will be hard to miss with his chocolate spots and big floppy ears.
Attendees also can enjoy other Knickerbocker Park features including softball and soccer. Participation will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. Additionally the park has play areas for 2 to 5-year-olds and 5 to12-year-olds, swing set, dog park with small and large dog areas, splash pad, jogging path with exercise stations, and picnic areas.
Knickerbocker Park is located at 10695 Dorrell Lane, just off the North 215 Beltway and Hualapai Way exit.
