It is a movie that has touched millions around the world, and has become one of the most iconic films in history. The 1939 major motion picture The Wizard of Oz takes over the Henderson Pavilion on Friday, June 8, accompanied by the Henderson Symphony Orchestra, bringing to life the Oscar-winning score.
Adventure down the Yellow Brick Road to the Henderson Pavilion, 200 S. Green Valley Pkwy. and be rewarded with classics including “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” and “We’re Off to See the Wizard.” The musical conductor will be Alexandra Arrieche. Showtime is set for 8 p.m. with gates opening at 7 p.m.
Often considered to be one of the greatest films in cinema history, it is the best-known and most commercially successful adaptation of Frank Baum’s 1900 children’s book, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Audience members are welcome to come dressed as their favorite Wizard of Oz character, including Dorothy, Toto, Tin Man, Scarecrow, the Cowardly Lion, Glenda the Good Witch and of course, the Wicked Witch of the West.
