In celebration of the many outstanding Clark County School District educators in the Las Vegas community, The Smith Center for the Performing Arts will host the second annual Heart of Education Awards, powered by The Rogers Foundation on Saturday, April 29.
With 800 teachers already nominated, The Smith Center and The Rogers Foundation encourage the Las Vegas community to continue to submit nominations for deserving CCSD teachers through Tuesday, Jan. 31. Anyone not related to the teacher is eligible to nominate a teacher and can do so by visiting TheHeartofEducation.org. For more information, interested participants can also visit TheSmithCenter.com.
The Heart of Education Awards was created to celebrate Clark County School District teachers who have been recognized as outstanding educators and leaders in their schools, with more than 800 teachers honored last year. Taking place just days before the start of National Teacher Appreciation Week, the gala event will feature a red carpet arrival, special performances and more. In honor of their achievements, 20 teachers will also be awarded $5,000, a Heart of Education trophy and a $1,000 cash prize to be used for a program of their choice at the winning teachers’ schools.
Expanding on their support from last year’s inaugural event, the Las Vegas Review-Journal will award three People’s Choice Awards, amounting to $10,000 ($5,000 for First Place, $3,000 for Second Place and $2,000 for Third Place).
The Heart of Education Awards is powered by The Rogers Foundation, with additional support from Nevada State Bank, NV Energy, Blue Heron Properties, Findlay Chevrolet, Las Vegas Review-Journal, Galleria at Sunset, Silverton Casino, Stitched and SWITCH. The Heart of Education Awards welcomes sponsorship opportunities to further engage transformation in CCSD schools.
