I was invited along to shoot stills today with a documentary film crew who is shooting a movie about the historic transition of power from Mayor Oscar B. Goodman of Las Vegas to his wife Carolyn G. Goodman. The Mayors Official last day was July 5th and today he swore in his wife as the new Mayor of Las Vegas. — Erik Kabik

Our morning began in the Mayor’s office at City Hall where Mr. Goodman spent his last morning at the Mayor’s desk, surrounded by his last few remaining personal items and his family. He chatted with his family and grandchildren about the events of the day. He was still receiving thank you notes from friends and fans during his family time this morning and read through them and shared them with his family.

Carolyn Goodman then arrived at the transitional office and spent time with her family. They all posed for a photo, then we all headed down to Chambers for the swearing in ceremony.

The Mayor swore in his wife Carolyn G. Goodman as Mayor of Las Vegas.
The new Mayor, Carolyn G. Goodman, presented Las Vegas City Councilman Steve Ross with a mop as a gesture/stab about a comment he made earlier this week that “the new Mayor has a mess to clean up” and “hope she is good with a mop” Everyone enjoyed a laugh.

Oscar B. Goodman then presented Carolyn G. Goodman with the Mayors Gavel. She then signed her Oath of Office form making it official that she was now the new Mayor of Las Vegas, NV.
She then proceeded to lead her first session in chambers.

I headed back up to the Mayors Office with Oscar B. Goodman and already workers had changed the name on the office door, removed his parking space signs, INSERT d them with hers, and changed the plaque on the office door.

Mr. Goodman sat at the desk and wrote a special note for his wife, then watched his wife on television as she went through some of her very first votes. He spoke about the importance of the voting today to set the tone, and he spoke to the film crew about how it felt to swear in his wife.
