This morning, those who serve, represent and protect the Southern Nevada community helped Three Square kick-off its ‘Fill the Plate’ community-wide food and fund drive in honor of Hunger Action Month this September (Pictured: Armed Forces at Three Square).
- September is Hunger Action Month and today, Sept. 4, local police officers, firefighters, emergency medical technicians, armed forces, professional sports teams and local celebrities and influencers joined Three Square Food Bank to kick-off its third annual community-wide food and fund drive, “Fill the Plate.”
- The Valley’s finest placed the first food items the 30’ x 30’ plate graphic in the food bank’s South Warehouse to commemorate the start of the month-long food drive.
- Fill the Plate, happening Sept. 4-28 is one of many activities Three Square has scheduled during Hunger Action Month this September. Throughout the campaign, Three Square encourages individuals and local businesses to help fill the ‘plate’ with non-perishable food items. Monetary donations can be made to the virtual drive at www.threesquare.org/ham.
Periodically throughout the campaign, canned goods and boxes of food will be added to the ‘plate’ to represent the impact of monetary donations made online. - Those who attended included: U.S. Marines and Army representatives; Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department; Nevada Highway Patrol; California Highway Patrol; Henderson Police Department; North Las Vegas Police Department; Clark County School District Police Department; Clark County Fire; Boulder City Fire Department; Henderson Fire Department; Las Vegas Fire and Rescue; Injured Police Officers Fund; AMR; MedicWest Ambulance; Las Vegas Lights; Vegas Golden Knights, Vegas Golden Knights Foundation, Bark Andre Furry and Logan – The Girl with the Hat; Masters of Illusion Murray Sawchuck and Lefty; and Professional BMX Rider Ricardo Laguna.
