Three Square Food Bank’s ‘Bag Childhood Hunger’ Campaign Meets $2 Million Goal
Three Square Food Bank
met its goal of raising $2 million through the Bag Childhood Hunger campaign, April 1 – May 31, which supports the non-profit’s childhood nutrition programs (Kids Cafe, BackPack for Kids and Meet Up and Eat Up). The contributions will be used right here in Southern Nevada to support the more than 103,000 food insecure children across the valley.

The Bag Childhood Hunger campaign was launched in 2011, providing healthy and nutritious meals to the one in five food insecure children living in Southern Nevada ever since. Additionally, more than 62 percent of children in Clark County schools are enrolled in free or reduced-price meal programs. That’s more than 203,000 students. Proper nutrition for children is critical as hunger can cause lasting physical and mental challenges.

The campaign culminated with a special celebratory event underwritten by the Bennett Family Foundation,  “Fashion for Three Square,” transforming Three Square’s north campus into a grand party venue on May 5. The gathering featured fashions by Etro, presented by Neiman Marcus, elegant decor, entertainment and food catered by chefs from top Las Vegas restaurants.

In its 10th year fighting hunger, Three Square is able to provide three meals for every dollar donated to the food bank. Thanks to the support of matching sponsors throughout the Bag Childhood Hunger campaign, Three Square can provide six meals for every dollar donated.
