Violinist Joshua Bell returned to the UNLV Performing Arts Center stage this week for a stunning solo concert (Photo: © Erik Kabik/ RETNA/ www.erikkabik.com)The Boston Herald calls Bell “the greatest American violinist active today.”  Joshua Bell and pianist Jeremy Denk appeared as part of the Charles Vanda Master Series.

Joshua Bell played his 1713 Gibson ex Huberman Stradivarius, an instrument he acquired for slightly less than four million dollars. His first recording made with the Gibson ex Huberman was Romance of the Violin (under Sony Classical) in 2003. It sold more than 5,000,000 copies and remained at the top of classical music charts for 54 weeks. Joshua Bell’s most recent CD is called Vivaldi: The Four Seasons and was released near the end of summer in 2008. It features The Four Seasons, four concerti written by the baroque composer Antonio Vivaldi.

Bell was named an “Indiana Living Legend” and received the Indiana Governor’s Arts Award. He was inducted into the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame and currently serves on the Artist Committee of the Kennedy Center Honors. Bell received the coveted Avery Fisher Prize in 2007 and was named by World Economic Forum as one of the 250 Young Global Leaders. He currentl serves as a senior lecturer at the Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music.
