Las Vegas Among Top Destination for British Travelers

Las Vegas is expected to get more visitors now that the United States has reopened its borders and international air travel to fully vaccinated travelers arriving from the 26 Schengen countries in Europe, the United Kingdom, Ireland, China, India, South Africa, Iran, and Brazil. 

In particular, research shows that travelers from the United Kingdom are the most eager to fly across the pond to several major U.S. cities this year, including Las Vegas.

Travelport, a global technology company that powers travel bookings for hundreds of airlines and thousands of hotels worldwide, trend data highlighting showing that U.K. travelers have searched for more U.S.-bound flights with a Nov. 8 departure date than all European countries combined. The company Travelport’s air booking data has been compiled to show the impact of the two recent U.S. travel announcements on September 20 and October 15 on international travel to the US. 

The company also found that the top five U.S. destinations for Brits included Orlando, New York, Miami, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles. Travelport also noted that U.S.-bound flights from the U.K. jumped over 2,200 percent for the Thanksgiving weekend.

In general for international tourists, the most common spots for international travel appear, New York, Miami, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.

  • Following behind the U.K., the countries that booked the most flights to the US were Germany, France, Italy and Spain.
  • The top five US-destinations booked by international travelers are New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Orlando, and San Francisco.
  • Specifically, New York, Los Angeles and Miami are top destinations for travelers originating from France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Greece and South Africa.
  • Couples and families were the most ready to get away, with an increase in flight bookings of 108 percent and 65 percent, respectively, following the second announcement.
