The Nevada Community Foundation has established the COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund to support Nevada nonprofit organizations responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Fund is not intended for individuals, but is intended to provide support to nonprofit organizations assisting those affected by the pandemic, with particular focus on seniors, vulnerable populations and first responders. All donations must be unrestricted to allow the Fund to move as efficiently and impactfully as possible.

One hundred percent of all donated funds will be directed to applying nonprofits, as Nevada Community Foundation will forego all administrative fees to manage and administer the Fund.

According to Gian Brosco, president of Nevada Community Foundation, which has operated for more than 30 years as a fiscal agent for scores of philanthropic funds in Southern Nevada, many nonprofits will experience a drop-off in funding for the foreseeable future. “We urge donors to continue to support organizations and causes they care about, particularly those focused on critical human services.”

“For those organizations tirelessly serving our community’s most vulnerable populations during these unprecedented times, you have our unending respect and gratitude for your courage and commitment. We stand united with you and urge our donors to continue to support these wonderful organizations. We also ask everyone to practice social distancing and follow the advice of health experts. Together, we can ‘flatten the curve’ and defeat this disease. We must not act out of fear and singular self-interest. And above all, we must never lose our collective humanity,” added Brosco.

In the coming weeks, Nevada Community Foundation will work with community stakeholders to ensure effective and impactful use of the Fund. Ongoing announcements and information for nonprofits wishing to apply for funding will be shared soon once plans are finalized and capital is raised.
