A dramatic incident close to Las Vegas was caught on surveillance video showing a car flying into a backyard. The freak accident caused the driver to be ejected into a swimming pool after crashing through a wall and striking a pool house roof.
The crash left property damage and a shaken homeowner in its wake.
How The Driver Ended Up Crashing The Backyard Pool
A home security camera in Laughlin, Nevada, recorded the hair-raising moment a vehicle went mid-air, dived into a backyard patio, and landed in a swimming pool. According to police reports and homeowner accounts, the incident unfolded late at night on December 15. Surveillance footage shows the automobile gaining speed and failing to stop. It hits a block wall, rotating through the air, and ejecting the driver into the shallow end of the pool.
Homeowner Cletis Reed said he first heard what sounded like a “freight train” before discovering the extensive damage to his property. “I figured something had happened in the street, and I came out to see my entire backyard destroyed. It sounded like a freight train.” The patio was destroyed, and sections of the wall were knocked down, leaving debris scattered across the yard. “Everything was just blown up,” Reed said, describing the aftermath.
Reed also recalled seeing the lady driver “floating” in his pool. Fortunately, he was moments away from using his hot tub when the crash occurred. It is safe to say that the Laughlin homeowner experienced a closed call as he had been planning to get into his hot tub. The Southern Nevada resident recalled getting the covers off the tub. However, he took a few moments to speak to his wife, and by the time he returned, the whole place was in ruins.

Details of Damage and Response After the Nevada Backyard Crash Video Went Viral

Reed continued recounting the incident, describing the driver as “blessed.” This was because she ended up on the shallow end. He added that she was conscious when he helped her out of the water. The affected resident described the driver’s condition, noting that she kept floating face-up. ” She flipped over face down, she snuck under the water. She was conscious.
More details from Reed showed that the woman appeared to be more stable after 15 minutes, after which she spoke to the police. The white salon car was in an askew position, so a tow truck had to use a crane to remove it from the property. Reed estimated that repairs to the patio, pool area, and pool house could cost nearly $300,000. The crash also contaminated the pool’s 25,000 gallons of water with motor oil and debris.
The Irony of Nevada’s New DUI Laws

The dramatic nature of the Nevada backyard crash on video highlighted risks associated with high-speed driving in residential areas, especially while impaired. It also brings focus to the recently revised DUI laws in Nevada, which imposed stricter penalties. From January 1, 2026, DUI offences that lead to fatality will attract a 25-year maximum sentence.
Nevada’s Governor Joe Lombardo signed the Assembly 4 bill into law during a special session of the Nevada legislature. In addition, the new stipulation strengthens other public safety laws related to criminal offences.
