Duane “Keffe D” Davis, the 62-year-old man indicted in connection with the 1996 drive-by killing of hip-hop icon Tupac Shakur, has been in custody since 2023. While Davis remains jailed and awaiting his trial, his family was left reeling after returning to the Henderson area residence to find it ransacked by unidentified intruders.

According to reports, those who live at the residence arrived home on January 7 to find the interior upended. The intruders turned over personal items, furniture, and sideboards. Shelves were taken apart and cabinets emptied, as if someone had searched the house from top to bottom.

A family friend claims that jewelry, cash, and other valuables may have been taken. However, the full extent of losses has not been confirmed. “It was as if the raiders were trying to make a point to say, ‘we are trashing your house.’ There was no room left untouched.” What has raised concerns among relatives is the nature of the scene, which some believe goes beyond a routine burglary.

Sources say surveillance footage from the property has been handed over to the Henderson, Nevada, police, who are investigating the matter. No suspects have been publicly identified or arrested as of this writing.

Family members were reportedly “terrified for their safety” after discovering the invasion. Sources described the home’s chaotic state, leaving relatives feeling unsettled. The concerns about the ransacked home were especially due to the murder suspect’s notoriety around the Tupac case.

Some relatives speculated that the intrusion may have been carried out by individuals familiar with Davis’s involvement in the high-profile legal matter. However, the police have made no official statement regarding motive. The address was made public in some court documents following Davis’s arrest. Family friends say this may have drawn unwanted attention to the home.

Concerns Over The Recent Development

Since authorities arrested Duane “Keffe D” Davis, there have been huge concerns that he could be targeted in prison. There have also been worries that his family members could also face intimidation. The gang member’s son, Duane junior, shared this with the police. He revealed that he heard that certain individuals greenlit a hit on his father.

Davis was taken into custody as a suspect in Tupac’s murder in September 2023. The former LA gang boss confessed to giving the order for the 1996 hit on Tupac in multiple media appearances. However, he later claimed to have lied about his confessions to gain fame. He has since remained behind bars at a Nevada prison, awaiting an August trial.

Prosecutors have argued that Davis played a central role in orchestrating the drive-by shooting that killed Shakur. However, his defense has contested aspects of the case, including immunity claims and procedural issues. Per the Las Vegas Review-Journal, a judge previously denied Davis’s request to dismiss the charges due to alleged delays in prosecution.

While in custody, Davis has also faced unrelated charges, including a reported altercation with another inmate. Last year, he was convicted of battery for an incident that took place while he was being escorted in the Clark County Detention Center.
