IMCA Modified driver Duane “Dewey” Kramer is “Racing for Wishes”

Duane “Dewey” Kramer of Sparks, Nev., will be “Racing for Wishes” this weekend at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Kramer, who regularly competes at tracks in Fallon and Winnemucca, is entered in the IMCA Modified Duel in the Desert.

Kramer’s Racing for Wishes No. 401 IMCA Modified, valued at $15,000, also will be raffled off to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northern Nevada (www.nevadawish.org). A limited number of tickets (1,000) will be sold at $10 each and the drawing will be held in Sparks on Dec. 6.

Kramer’s IMCA Modified is sponsored by IBEW Local 401, which explains the choice of car number.

Since its inception in 1982, Make-A-Wish of Northern Nevada has granted wishes for more than 600 special children.

More than 150 IMCA Modifieds are expected to compete in Las Vegas Motor Speedway’s 11th annual Duel in the Desert this weekend. Racing starts Thursday evening with practice and qualifying heats for IMCA Modified drivers hoping to earn a starting position in Saturday’s 40-lap, $5,000-to-win feature.

Included on this weekend’s race card are IMCA Stock Cars, Bombers and Legends Cars.

3:30 p.m. – Wheel-packing begins.
4 p.m. – Spectator gates open.
5:15 p.m. – IMCA Modified practice (Thursday only).
6 p.m. – IMCA Modified heat races (16 races); IMCA Qualifying Feature.

Friday, Nov. 14
9 a.m. – Credentials and pit parking for Legends Cars and IMCA Stock Cars.
3:30 p.m. – Drivers’ meeting.
4 p.m. – Spectator gates open, wheel-packing begins.
5 p.m. – Practice for Legends Cars and IMCA Stock Cars.
