John Andretti enters Saturday’s Qwik Liner Las Vegas 350
John Andretti is a NASCAR veteran, but he may find himself at a little disadvantage during Saturday’s Qwik Liner Las Vegas 350 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race.
While this is the third year the trucks have raced on the superspeedway since the banking was increased from 12 to 20 degrees, it will be Andretti’s first race on the relatively new surface.
“I haven’t raced in Vegas since the track was redone, but I have tested a (Sprint) Cup car there,” Andretti said. “It has more speed to it. I know the trucks are going to put on a show no matter what. The racing hasn’t changed – it’s still top-notch. I expect a bunch of guys are going to lean on one another during the race.”
Andretti will be making his first start of the season in the No. 15 Toyota for Billy Ballew Motorsports and only his fifth Truck Series start ever. The Ballew team has fielded trucks for the past few years for Las Vegas Kyle Busch and visited Victory Lane at LVMS in 2004 with Shane Hmiel.
Andretti joins Las Vegas’ Brendan Gaughan, title contenders Johnny Benson and Ron Hornaday and past LVMS winners David Starr, Jack Sprague, Todd Bodine and Mike Skinner on the entry list for this Saturday’s race.
Tickets are on sale for Saturday’s Qwik Liner Las Vegas 350 by calling 1-800-644-4444 or logging on to www.lvms.com. Neon Garage passes are just $10. Gates open at 3 p.m. Saturday and the race starts at 6:30.
