The Las Vegas Wranglers announced today that nearly $9,000 was raised for two local charities from the return of “Pink in the Rink” on Feb. 10 (Photo credit: to John Bosworth).
Jersey auctions, ticket proceeds and sponsor donations all contributed to the $8,822 raised for both the St. Rose Dominican Hospitals Health Foundation and the Susan G. Komen for the Cure of Southern Nevada. Specialty pink jerseys featuring a vintage Wranglers logo were worn by the team and silently auctioned off on the Orleans Arena concourse, and a portion of ticket proceeds went to the organizations as well.
“I was seated around many survivors and their families, and there was such a sense of joy and appreciation for the effort the entire Wranglers team put forth for the event,” said Stephanie Kirby, Executive Director for Susan G. Komen for the Cure of Southern Nevada. “The Komen Southern Nevada affiliate is so honored to have been chosen to partner in this awareness and fundraising campaign, and we certainly hope to make it an annual event with the Wranglers.”
The Wranglers continue a three-game series on the road against the Alaska Aces tomorrow and Sunday night. The team returns home to Orleans Arena on Sunday, March 18, to face the Bakersfield Condors.
