Williams Beats Wright in Unanimous Decision
Paul Williams (37-1, 27 KOs) won a unanimous decision over former champion Winky Wright (51-5-1) in a middleweight bout at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas (Photo: © Erik Kabik/ RETNA/ www.erikkabik.com). Williams dominated Wright throughout the fight, throwing 1,086 punches with 23 percent connecting. Wright threw only 511 punches, being on defense in all 12 rounds.
Wright had not fought since losing a decision to Bernard Hopkins in July 2007.
Both fighters were expected make about $1 million for bout.
