Wilmes Wins $20,000 Street Car Super Nationals Pro Street Finale at Las Vegas Motor Speedway

Kirk Wilmes of Oklahoma defeated Vinny DeMieri of Dix Hills, N.Y., to claim the $20,000-to-win Pro Street finale at the Street Car Super Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Wilmes’ 1968 Firebird 4.092 sec. at 183.67 mph in the 1/8-mile to DeMieri’s 4.253 sec. at 171.34 mph.

Billy Glidden of Whiteland, Texas, defeated Rich Zehring of San Jose, Calif., for Outlaw Street honors.
John Phlegar of Las Vegas defeated Henderson’s Brian King for Bracket 1 honors.
Jim Caruso of Devore, Calif., won the Double index class over N. Hollywood’s Ruben Pulido.
Bakersfield’s Roger Holder won the Extreme Drag Radial class over Allen Stewart of Palmdale, Calif.
Michael DeMayo of W. Sunbury, Mass., won the Hot Street class.
The Wild Street final was won by Al Jimenez of Sylmar, Calif.
Mike Nordahl of Fontana, Calif., beat Chris McCallum of Grand Junction, Colo., in the Open Comp class.
Scott Dool of Newbury park, Calif., won the Mustang class and Rod George defeated Ray Martin of Anchorage, Alaska, in the Super Index category.
