World of Outlaws Sprint Cars to Return to The Dirt Track at LVMS in 2009

America’s premier Sprint Car series – the World of Outlaws – will make a mud-slinging return to the Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the first time since 2006.

The event will be held on Thursday, Feb. 26, as part of the annual NASCAR Weekend. “We’re proud to announce the return of the exciting World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series to our dirt track,” said LVMS president Chris Powell. “It’s the most exciting dirt racing series in the country and always draws the biggest names, including Steve Kinser and Danny Lasoski. It’s an event that adds even more luster to the largest sports weekend in the western United States.”

The last World of Outlaws Sprint Car event held at the Dirt Track at LVMS took place on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006, and was won by Donny Schatz. It was Schatz’s fifth win on the half-mile dirt oval and allowed him to clinch the 2006 Outlaws championship. Schatz holds the LVMS track record with five A-Feature wins. Steve Kinser, Mark Kinser and Lasoski each have three victories at LVMS.

The Dirt Track’s 2009 season begins on Wednesday, Feb. 25, with USAC’s national touring Sprint Car and Midget Series.

Tickets for both 2009 events are now on sale. Tickets for the USAC doubleheader are $19. World of Outlaws tickets are $29. A Super Fan Advance Ticket also is available for $40 and includes admission to the USAC and WoO races, as well as a Wednesday-night pit pass upgrade. To purchase tickets or obtain additional information, please call LVMS at (702) 644-4444 or visit www.LVMS.com.

The racing at the half-mile dirt facility kicks off the annual NASCAR Weekend at LVMS. The action shifts to the superspeedway on Friday, Feb. 27 for qualifying for the Shelby 427 NASCAR

Sprint Cup Series race. The Sam’s Town 300 NASCAR Nationwide Series event is set for Saturday, Feb. 28, and the weekend winds up with the 12th annual Shelby 427 on Sunday, March 1.
