Vegas Golden Knights Celebrates 9th Straight Win
The Vegas Golden Knights set a new franchise record for consecutive wins when they won their ninth game in a row Saturday night in Anaheim.
Along the way, the Golden Knights clinched a playoff spot, moved into the top position in the NHL and saw individual players achieve high levels of success.
Vegas has an opportunity to extend its streak Wednesday night against Colorado. As we prepare for that contest, we’ll take a look back through the Golden Knights’ historic streak.
April 9: Golden Knights 7, Coyotes 4
The Golden Knights scored four times in the first period to set the tone for a 7-4 win against the Coyotes. Reilly Smith (2G), Chandler Stephenson (1G, 1A), Max Pacioretty (1G, 1A), Jonathan Marchessault (1G, 1A) and William Karlsson (2A) each posted two points while Robin Lehner made 22 saves in the win.
April 11: Golden Knights 1, Coyotes 0
Marc-Andre Fleury stopped all 14 shots that came his way for his 484th win and 66th shutout of his career. Tomas Nosek scored the game’s only goal midway through the third period as Vegas swept the two-game set with Arizona.
April 12: Golden Knights 4, Kings 2
After the Kings took a 2-0 lead midway through the second period, Vegas scored four unanswered goals to extend the streak to three games. Nicolas Roy and Mark Stone scored in the middle frame to tie the game before Alex Tuch and Max Pacioretty scored in the third to seal the win. Pacioretty’s goal was the 300th of his career.
April 14: Golden Knights 6, Kings 2
Fleury moved past Ed Belfour for sole possession of fourth on the all-time wins list with his 485th career victory as Vegas topped LA, 6-2. Pacioretty (1G, 2A) and Nosek (1G, 2A) each had three points while Mark Stone (1G, 1A) and Alex Tuch (1G, 1A) posted two points apiece.
April 16: Golden Knights 4, Ducks 0
Vegas outshot Anaheim, 51-16, in a dominant 4-0 victory to extend the streak to five games. Karlsson, Stephenson, Roy and Brayden McNabb each found the back of the net in the win. Robin Lehner posted his first shutout of the season.
April 18: Golden Knights 5, Ducks 2
The Golden Knights continued to roll against the Ducks with a 5-2 win at Honda Center. Pacioretty and Alex Pietrangelo scored in the opening frame, Roy and Stone scored in the middle frame and Alex Tuch added an empty netter to seal the win.
April 19: Golden Knights 3, Sharks 2 (SO)
Vegas earned its first shootout win of the year as Lehner turned aside all three shooters in a 3-2 win against San Jose. Tuch scored in the shootout after Stone scored twice in regulation. Patrick Marleau broke the record for all-time games played (1,768) in the contest.
April 21: Golden Knights 5, Sharks 2
Marchessault paced the Golden Knights with four points (2G, 2A) in a 5-2 win against the Sharks to match the franchise’s win streak record of eight games. Mattias Janmark scored his first as a Golden Knight while Stone and Tuch also scored for Vegas.
April 24: Golden Knights 5, Ducks 1
The Golden Knights extended their win streak to a franchise-best nine games with a 5-1 win against the Ducks in their final visit to Honda Center. Stephenson scored twice in the first period before William Carrier, Karlsson and Shea Theodore added goals to comfort the Vegas lead.
