An action-packed weekend of UFC and Power Slap in Las Vegas? This called for a girls’ night out Downtown. We gathered the group and secured a reservation at Barry’s Downtown Prime at Circa Las Vegas and headed for Fremont Street. Why go Downtown when the main events are happening nowhere near there, you may ask? We got word that the competitors for Power Slap 13 were all staying at Circa, so naturally, we had to go and see for ourselves.

Surprisingly beating traffic, we arrived way ahead of our reservation, so we decided to take a few laps around the casino floor to see if we could find anyone. Lo and behold, as we were approaching 8 East and the high limit room, who did we see? UFC fighter Josh Emmett, who is currently known for being the only fighter to have gone five rounds against Ilia Topuria. It was so wild to see him in person. Seeing him dig into a plate of Dan Dan Noodles with his friends and family made him less intimidating in person. A few tables over from his group, we spotted two of the hottest names in female power slapping, Destiny McCubbin and Mikaell-Michelle Brown, fueling up for their separate matches the next night. These women you really don’t want to mess with, especially after Mikaell-Michelle was sadly disqualified.

Maybe it was one too many espresso martinis or the Oreo Cookie Ice Cream Pie at Barry’s that made us feel spontaneous, but we decided last minute that we were not done with our weekend at Circa just yet. We booked a cabana for the following night to come back and watch UFC 317 at Stadium Swim. After seeing who we saw just by coming for dinner, who knows what could be in store for us on a Pay-Per-View fight night? Especially after hearing Circa Executive Richard Wilk was in a cabana with Power Slappers Pono Nakaneokekai Pau, AKA Da Hawaiian Assassin, and Isaih Quinones. Night of the UFC, we spotted none other than Owner/CEO Derek Stevens posing with Terrance (TWrecks) McKinney. What was so wild about this was that we literally just saw him on Stadium Swim’s 143-foot screen minutes prior to that, winning his fight in the first round in under a minute was very impressive. Only in Vegas, right?

Kansas City Chiefs defensive end Mike Danna was dining recently at Barry’s Downtown Prime. We hear he even took an extra meal back to the room for himself. Maybe a midnight snack? Guests were talking about how Chef Barry and Mike were posing in the kitchen and were talking about football and what to expect for the Chiefs’ new season.
It never hurts to take on learning about a new sport or niche, because it could lead to some really fun nights of seeking out the stars that make it great. Circa never disappoints on a good time, and we always leave with even better stories to share.
