WalletHub gave Las Vegas an overall score of 68.30. The city ranked No. 8 for its cuisine and No. 9 nationally for diversity, accessibility, and quality. It placed No. 77 for affordability.

The study considered factors such as grocery costs, access to highly rated restaurants, food festivals, and the number of food-related businesses available to residents. As a result, the ranking measured more than the number of upscale restaurants in each city.

Las Vegas performed particularly well in several individual categories. The city tied for the highest number of restaurants per capita among the 182 cities studied. It also tied for the highest number of ice cream and frozen yogurt shops per capita.

Those results helped Las Vegas stand out in a ranking that considers both dining options and the broader food culture of a city.

For Las Vegas, the No. 8 ranking places the city ahead of Sacramento and Denver, which finished ninth and 10th. WalletHub said its study was designed to capture the different ways people experience food. That includes dining at restaurants, discovering local flavors, and buying ingredients to prepare meals at home.

On the contrary, Sin City placed behind Miami, Portland, San Francisco, Seattle, Austin, Orlando, and Tampa in the overall rankings. Miami claimed the No. 1 position with a score of 74.62. Portland followed at No. 2, while San Francisco, Seattle, and Austin rounded out the top five. Orlando and Tampa took sixth and seventh place, respectively.

The approach gives cities with broad food options an opportunity to score well even when restaurant prices are not among the lowest in the country. Regardless, it is safe to say locals, tourists, and food lovers are guaranteed to get their money’s worth.
