Las Vegas Sands Celebrates Opening of The Londoner Macao

Las Vegas Sands Corp.

LAS VEGAS, February 8, 2021 – Las Vegas Sands (NYSE: LVS) announced the opening phase of The Londoner Macao on February 8, with a ceremony celebrating the new British-themed integrated resort and honoring late Chairman and Founder, Sheldon G. Adelson.

A complete reimagining of Sands China Ltd.’s Sands Cotai Central, The Londoner Macao offers guests British-themed history and culture alongside traditional, yet contemporary, hospitality and accommodations. The February 8 opening celebration in Macao showcased the resort’s ornate and elegant main lobby, the Crystal Palace. Designed in classic Victorian style, the glass and iron atrium features a stained glass ceiling that rises nearly 110 feet from the floor, offering ample sunlight during the day and a panoramic view of the night sky after dark. Victorian-era lampposts line the patterned dark marble floor, along with a full-scale Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain featuring Anteros, the Greek God of selfless love, on its pinnacle.

“The Londoner Macao embodies our continued commitment to and faith in the Macao market, and is primed to be another truly iconic integrated resort in the company’s portfolio,” said Rob Goldstein, Sands chairman and chief executive officer. “This reimagining of Sands Cotai Central represents the unique vision of our late Founder, Sheldon G. Adelson. Just as he brought Venice to Macao with The Venetian Macao, Sands now brings the rich culture, history and splendor of England to the Cotai Strip.”

In addition to the Crystal Palace, the first phase launch features dining options, interactive London-themed attractions and the opening of The Londoner Hotel – an all-suite tower featuring approximately 600 luxury suites. Designed by Hong Kong-based Steve Leung Design Group, suite interiors are bright and contemporary, featuring marble nightstands, custom beds with plush fabric headboards, elegant chesterfield sofas, high-backed leather armchairs and Victorian-style bathtubs.

The hotel’s top two floors encompass the exclusive Suites by David Beckham, Macao’s first celebrity-designed hotel rooms, launching later this year. Created by Sands Resorts Macao global ambassador David Beckham in collaboration with leading London interior design firm David Collins Studio, the suites capture the essence of a high-end London homestead, offering guests a unique luxury experience that provides warmth and charm.

Beckham commented: “The Londoner Macao is another exceptional property by Sands. Everything has been created so guests have the best experience possible and the attention to detail is like no other. This integrated resort feels very personal to me and being part of the development has been an incredible project – not only is it bringing my hometown to Macao, but also the first David Beckham Suites. I can’t wait to be back in Macao to see it all – it looks spectacular.”

The February 8 opening celebration featured a performance by the 65-member Macau Youth Orchestra, as well as the Sands China Choir, who sang an acapella rendition of Queen’s operatic rock anthem “Bohemian Rhapsody,” and a video message from David Beckham. The event also featured a tribute honoring company founder Sheldon G. Adelson, who passed away last month.

Representing a $1.9 billion investment, The Londoner Macao will continue its progressive opening throughout 2021. In addition to the Suites by David Beckham, future opening phases include Londoner Court, a luxury residential-style all-suite hotel; the rethemed Shoppes at Londoner; and the Londoner Arena.
