Weekly Fireworks Show Coming to Downtown Las Vegas

A weekly fireworks show is coming to downtown Las Vegas thanks to the Plaza Hotel & Casino. Here’s what you should know.
Starting on Memorial Day and lasting throughout the summer, the Plaza will begin hosting free weekly fireworks shows on its property. The hotel and casino announced the so-called Welcome to the Weekend Summer Friday Fireworks series in a news release on Thursday.
Each firework show will start promptly at 9:15 p.m., and will last at least several minutes. The first show is scheduled for May 24 during Memorial Day Weekend, and the weekly firework series in Las Vegas will last through the end of August, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.
“The Plaza is known for its great fireworks on New Year’s Eve and July 4th, but who says fireworks are only for those holidays?” Plaza CEO Jonathan Jossel said in a news release. “This summer, we wanted to celebrate and give a gift to everyone downtown by sharing the excitement and fun of our fireworks shows with them every Friday night.”
If you’re unfamiliar, downtown Las Vegas is not the Las Vegas Strip. Instead, it’s the site of some of the best Las Vegas hotels off the strip, as well as the world-famous Fremont Street Experience. And, now, Downtown Las Vegas will also feature weekly fireworks akin to Disneyland or other amusement parks.
Northern Las Vegas may not have the high-profile mega-resorts of the Las Vegas Strip, but it does host some of the best Las Vegas music venues and some of the city’s oldest operating casinos and resorts.
The weekly fireworks in downtown Las Vegas will be free to view, of course. But if you’re interested in exploring more of North and Downtown Las Vegas? Check out the Vegas News guide to the best beer in the city.
