Metallica Announces ‘Life Burns Faster’ Vegas Sphere Residency

Heavy metal legends Metallica will bring a new concert experience to Las Vegas this fall with an eight-show residency at the Sphere. The run, titled “Life Burns Faster,” will take place on select dates in October 2026 and will continue the band’s signature No Repeat Weekend format introduced during its recent global tour.

The residency is scheduled for October 1 and 3, 15 and 17, 24, and 29 and 31, 2026. Each pair of Thursday and Saturday shows will feature completely different setlists. This means fans attending both nights will not hear the same song twice.

The No Repeat Weekend concept debuted during the band’s M72 World Tour, which launched in 2023 in support of the album 72 Seasons. That tour emphasized large-scale staging, extended setlists, and rotating song selections to showcase the band’s four-decade catalog.

“Surprise! The world’s worst-kept secret is now official… we are bringing our No Repat Weekends to Sphere in Las Vegas this fall!’ a statement on the group’s official website read. The heavy metal group displayed their excitement, describing the upcoming event as the “next level.” “It’s completely uncharted territory! This residency gives us another chance to reinvent how we interact with you guys in a live setting, and we can’t wait to see you either,” they added.

Tickets are expected to be sold in multi-night packages as well as individual show options. While muktiple presale will begin on March 2, the tickets will officially go on sale on March 2.

While the band has not released full setlists, the residency will draw from across Metallica’s catalog, charged up with Sphere’s immersive technologies. The stipulated set of shows will also include live staples. Speaking about their decision to visit Vegas Sphere, the group’s co-founder and drummer, Lars Ulrich, revealed that the idea came years earlier.

“About 12 seconds into the opening night of Sphere with U2 back in ’23, I thought, ‘we have to do this, it’s completely uncharted territory,'” he shared. In their website announcement, Metallica stated that the Sphere residency in Vegas will unite fans regardless of their experiences with the band’s past live performances.

The statement further read, “Whether you’ve seen us from the upper reaches of a stadium or arena, at an intimate club or theatre gig… Sphere’s technology will present an entirely new live experience for everyone.”

Metallica remains one of the highest-grossing touring acts in music history. The M72 World Tour drew millions of fans across North America and Europe and reinforced the band’s enduring popularity more than 40 years after its formation.

Frontman James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich have emphasized the importance of evolving live shows while honoring longtime fans. The rotating setlist approach allows the band to revisit songs that might otherwise remain absent from standard concert lineups.

The Sphere residency represents another step in adapting to new performance formats while maintaining a global audience. It is safe to say that Las Vegas expects the October run to draw visitors from around the world, continuing the city’s trend of hosting high-profile music residencies.
