Everything You Need to Know About Virgin Hotels Las Vegas
As Las Vegas continues its reopening initiative, Virgin Hotels Las Vegas is set to open its highly anticipated off the Strip mega-resort on March 25.
The new resort is replacing the iconic Hard Rock Hotel located off Harmon Ave and Paradise Rd, which was purchased by English Business Magnate Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Group in 2018. The Hard Rock remained open until Virgin began its full renovation of the 25-year-old property to reflect a more modern, sleek, Southwestern desert aesthetic.
The property joined a partnership with Hilton’s Curio hotel brand in 2019, and will feature three hotel towers totaling over 1,500 high-end chambers and suites, as well as its 60,000 sq. ft. Mohegan Sun Casino space.
Sure, there’s some things we’ll miss about the Hard Rock: Its rock ‘n’ roll memorabilia adorned walls, catching late-night concerts at The Joint or Vinyl, and enjoying some poolside bacchanalia at one of the former resort’s Rehab pool parties.
While you may feel nostalgic about what once was, there are still plenty of new amenities to look forward to with Virgin’s venture into Sin City.
No Resort Fees
Anyone that’s visited the Strip knows how expensive things can be—resort fees, parking, $10 water bottles.
Virgin is instead championing its “No Nickel and Diming” policy, and instead, is scrapping resort fees and offering complimentary self-parking and WiFi—a rarity amongst other local mega resorts. The resort is also offering “street-priced” minibars, which include snacks, drinks, and other goodies.

Reimagined Entertainment
In a way, Virgin isn’t replacing its predecessor’s music venues, but is reimagining them.
The Joint—known for hosting big name artists including guitarist Carlos Santana’s longtime residency show—is now called The Theater at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. The updated 4,500-person venue will feature newly renovated bar and luxury suites, as well as two new VIP lounge areas. The venue will continue to host performances from “both legendary and groundbreaking artists.”
The former, smaller scale Vinyl Room has been rebranded as Oxford 24, which pays homage to the address name of Virgin Records’ first store in London. The venue will keep in the spirit of the Vinyl by offering smaller, more intimate concerts with up-and-coming artists.
Virgin is also featuring a 5-acre “desert oasis” entertainment area that will include an event lawn, resort pool, and day club.
New Foodie and Lounge Spots
Virgin is adding a diverse selection of promising culinary delights to its resort.
New dining spots include Hakkasan Group’s Mexican cantina Casa Calavera, Mediterranean-themed Kassi Beach Club, So-Cal Thai eatery Night + Market, Todd English’s Olives, and the Morton Brothers’ One Steakhouse.
Two new bars and lounges are also coming to Virgin, including The Bar at Commons Club and The Shag Room, which pays tribute to the infamous Studio 54 Club formerly located in New York City.
