“Lovers And Other Strangers” Starring Renée Taylor and Joseph Bologna at Suncoast Showroom Aug. 13-14
The classic comedy “Lovers And Other Strangers,” written by and starring Academy Award nominees Renée Taylor and Joseph Bologna, stops in Las Vegas at the Suncoast Showroom for two performances, August 13 and 14, each evening at 7:30 p.m.
In “Lovers And Other Strangers,” Taylor and Bologna introduce the various scenes and characters of the play with hilarious anecdotes that give the audience insight into their own 46-year love story, as well as the crazy family and friends that inspired each of the five scenes of the play. Joining Taylor and Bologna on stage are actors Jack Maxell and Jennifer Lassalette.
This pre-Broadway tour marks the first time Taylor and Bologna have revived “Lovers And Other Strangers” since its successful debut on Broadway in 1968, which also starred the husband-and-wife comedy duo.
Taylor and Bologna adapted the script for the screenplay of the 1970 film, starring Beatrice Arthur, Bonnie Bedelia, Richard S. Castellano, Cloris Leachman and Gig Young. The film received two Academy Award nominations, including Best Supporting Actor for Castellano and Best Adapted Screenplay, and won the Academy Award for Best Original Song, “For All We Know.”
Since her film debut in 1958, Renée Taylor has appeared in legendary films, including “The Producers,” “Dr. Dolittle 2,” “Alfie” and “White Palace.” On television, audiences may most recognize Taylor as Sylvia Fine, mother to Fran Fine a.k.a. “The Nanny.” Other television credits include “Dream On,” “St. Elsewhere,” “Daddy Dearest,” and a recurring role on “How I Met Your Mother.” She will soon be a regular voice on the Fox animated series “Allen Gregory,” premiering in October, and will also appear as a guest star on Fran Drescher’s new show, “Happily Divorced.”
Joseph Bologna has appeared in more than 70 television programs and films during his 40-year career in entertainment. “My Favorite Year,” “Blame It On Rio,” “Chapter Two,” and “Big Daddy” are among the films in which Bologna starred. Television shows include “Top of the Heap,” “Married with Children,” “Rags to Riches,” the animated series “Superman,” and “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.”
In addition to “Lovers And Other Strangers,” Taylor and Bologna co-wrote and starred in the Emmy Award-winning television special “Acts of Love and Other Comedies,” the 1971 film “Made For Each Other,” and the 1981 Broadway production of “It Had To Be You.”
