The Flamingo Las Vegas’ GO Pool is going country! When the sun goes down this summer, the party heats up with the Country Cabana Concert Series at the Flamingo GO Pool presented by 102.7 The Coyote (Pictured: Scotty McCreery).
Throughout the summer, Las Vegas’ hottest pool party turns into the city’s best live music venue featuring some of your favorite country music artists who will perform live poolside on the Las Vegas Strip.
Kicking off the series on Thursday, July 5 is Scotty McCreery. After winning Season Ten of “American Idol” in 2011, McCreery made history when he became the youngest male artist of any genre, and the first country music artist ever, to have his debut album enter No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. Clear as Day was certified Platinum for sales of one-million units in just 13 weeks and became the best-selling solo album released by a country artist in 2011. The singles “I Love You This Big” and “The Trouble with Girls” were also certified Platinum. He won the New Artist of the Year award at both the Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards and the American Country Awards, and also received the CMT Award for Breakthrough Video of the Year for “The Trouble with Girls.” A year later, Christmas with Scotty McCreery debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Holiday Albums chart and was quickly certified Gold. His next album, 2013’s See You Tonight, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Country Albums chart, and “See You Tonight” and “Feelin’ It” both reached the Top 10 and were certified Platinum and Gold respectively. “See You Tonight” earned McCreery both his first BMI Award for writing one of the Top 50 Country Songs of 2015, and his first Music Row No. 1 Challenge Coin for landing atop the Music Row Country Breakout Chart. With his third album, the young star takes a huge creative step forward. He co-wrote all 11 songs on Seasons Change, working with some of the finest songwriters in Nashville to express a wide range of emotions and musical styles.
Midland to perform at Flamingo GO Pool on Wednesday, Aug. 29
Next up is Midland on Wednesday, Aug. 29, with Tyler Rich opening. With all the chest-thumping going on in Nashville today, where bluster and swagger have INSERT d heart and soul, you half expect some of country music’s male stars to be sporting bruises. Which is what makes Midland, a trio of friends based in Dripping Springs, Texas, so undeniably refreshing. Made up of singer Mark Wystrach, lead guitarist Jess Carson and bass player Cameron Duddy, Midland is the embodiment of Seventies California country, all smooth Eagles harmonies and heart-on-your-sleeve lyrics. Their songs are intoxicating, sung with the twang of George Strait. And it’s impossible to resist. Now, after endearing themselves to fans with the hit radio single “Drinkin’ Problem” and a self-titled EP, Midland recently unveiled their full-length debut, On the Rocks (Big Machine Records). A collection of 13 tracks all written or co-written by Midland – the guys took their name from a Dwight Yoakam song – On the Rocks excels at setting a mood, transporting the listener to another place and time. It’s an album made for wide-open skies, endless deserts and wondering where the road is going to take you next. Whether they intended it or not, Midland are filling a void in country, with songs that run the gamut from lush Urban Cowboy anthems to loose campfire sing-alongs. Putting their own spin on a classic sound, they’re making something old relevant again.
Chris Janson to perform at Flamingo GO Pool on Wednesday, Sept. 26
Closing out the series on Wednesday, Sept. 26 is Chris Janson, with opener Jordan Davis. Janson is a Platinum-selling high octane entertainer, multi-instrumentalist, award-winning singer/songwriter, and the youngest living member of the Grand Ole Opry. His sophomore album, Everybody, produced his second No. 1 hit single, “Fix A Drink,” the chart-topping follow up to his No. 1 debut smash and summer anthem, “Buy Me A Boat.” His current single, “Drunk Girl,” is climbing the country airplay charts while being hailed by the Tennessean as “a shoo-in for a Song of the Year nomination.” Janson closed out the 53rd ACM Awards with what Rolling Stone called a “must-see performance,” and he floored his audience at Stagecoach. Janson is currently on the “Life’s Whatcha Make It Tour” with Jake Owen, as well as doing his own headlining dates, which included a sold-out show at the historic Ryman Auditorium.
Tickets are $20 each and are available via ticketmaster.com. The first 200 tickets sold to each show are available for $10 each, and a bundle pack to all three shows is available for $50 per person.
