11th Annual “Run Away with Cirque du Soleil” at Springs Preserve
This Saturday, March 24, Cirque du Soleil and Springs Preserve hosted the 11th annual “Run Away with Cirque du Soleil” 5K Run and 1 Mile Fun Walk – and 2012 marked the first year the event was sold out (Photo credit: Cashman Photo).
In celebration of WORLD WATER DAY (held March 22 of each year), the annual event, presented by Cirque du Soleil in partnership with the Springs Preserve and ONE DROP, was a means of drawing attention to the importance of freshwater and the sustainable management of freshwater resources. All proceeds raised from the event will go to support the educational and environmental-sustainability programs at the Springs Preserve.

On-hand for the festivities and to perform the shotgun start was Mayor Carolyn Goodman, along with Nevada Public Radio’s President and General Manager Flo Rogers, who acted as emcee for the day’s events. Cirque du Soleil performers were also in attendance to entertain and interact with runners.
