49th Annual World Series of Poker Begins; Over $200 Million to be Awarded; Over 100,000 Participants from 100+ Countries
Play begins at the world’s largest, richest and longest-running poker tournament, The World Series of Poker. The action kicks off Wednesday, May 29 at 11:00am for the annual Casino Employees Event – a unique event bringing all Las Vegas employees together under one roof (Photo credit: Jayne Furman/WSOP).
On Saturday, huge crowds of poker players will descend on Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino for a $565 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em tournament dubbed the Colossus, which guarantees the victor $1,000,000. This event will have six starting flights, two each Saturday, Sunday and Monday at 10am and 5pm.
The World Series of Poker is the gaming industry’s premier event, each year drawing tens of thousands of poker enthusiasts from around the globe to Las Vegas to compete for millions in prize money and the game’s most coveted trophy – a World Series of Poker Champion’s Bracelet.
