American Coney Island to Honor 102nd Birthday With Original Five Cent Coney Dogs, May 9
The iconic American Coney Island will ring in the family-owned restaurant’s 102nd birthday by offering five cent Coney dogs for “Nickel Day” on Thursday, May 9 from 11 a.m. – noon at the D Las Vegas. Bringing the Detroit tradition to Las Vegas, the special price will commemorate the eatery’s original offering when it opened in Detroit, Michigan in 1917 by Constantine “Gust” Keros.

“It’s an honor to carry on the legacy of serving great American food that my grandfather started so long ago,” said third generation co-owner Chris Sotiropoulos and grandson of Constantine Keros. “I look forward to greeting and celebrating with the customers that have made this Las Vegas location a true staple for Downtown.”

Family-operated since day one, American Coney Island has continued its tasty practices in Las Vegas by serving world-famous Coney Dogs at the D Las Vegas, its only location outside of Michigan. The beloved dish grew in popularity from the specially-seasoned, natural skin casing hot dog from Dearborn Sausage and its secret family “Coney Island Chili Sauce” recipe, which comes topped with mustard and sweet chopped onions.

Nickel Day will be hosted by the D’s CEO Derek Stevens, co-owners Sotiropoulos and sister, Grace Keros and a special appearance by ACI mascot Coney D. The restaurant will limit one anniversary-priced Coney per customer.
