Amos Lee’s “Mountains of Sorrow, Rivers of Song” Tour Hits The Smith Center in Las Vegas Feb. 25
Singer-songwriter Amos Lee kicks off his 29-city headline U.S. tour this week. He’ll be performing at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts in Las Vegas on February 25, 2014.
The Philadelphia native is touring in support of his fifth album, Mountains Of Sorrow, Rivers Of Song (Blue Note Records), the follow-up to 2011’s chart-topping Mission Bell which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and Billboard Rock Albums charts and contained the No. 1 Triple A radio hit “Windows Are Rolled Down.” Mountains Of Sorrow, Rivers Of Song has topped the Americana chart for the past two months.
Lee will perform on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on February 24 and “Live From Daryl’s House,” airing on Palladia on February 27 at 11 PM/10 PM CT. The Philadelphia native will be guest on “Tavis” in February and perform on an upcoming episode of PBS’ “Music City Roots,” a new musical variety show hosted by Jim Lauderdale in Nashville. He was also featured in the Life Is Good Festival‘s 90 minute concert special, which aired recently on Palladia.
Lee performed “The Man Who Wants You”, the first single from Mountains Of Sorrow, Rivers Of Song, on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and the latest single, “Chill In The Air” on Late Show with David Letterman. The New York Times hailed Mountains Of Sorrow, Rivers Of Song as a “serenely sure-footed effort from Amos Lee, a singer-songwriter who rarely delivers anything else” and Elmore observed, “‘Mountains of Sorrow’ may be Lee’s finest yet.” Entertainment Weekly praised his “strikingly soulful voice” while Paste noted, “Lee makes sorrow shimmer…Like Jackson Browne for another generation, Lee understands the staining traces of love.” The album was produced by Jay Joyce (Emmylou Harris, Eric Church, Cage the Elephant) and features guest vocals by Alison Krauss and Patty Griffin.
