Authors of “Eating Las Vegas” Pick Top Five Vegas Hot Spots for New Year’s Eve

There are few experiences on earth like a New Year’s Eve celebration in Las Vegas.  In the past several years, the city has become known as much for its world-class dining as it has for its plethora of blackjack tables and all-night party venues.  The authors of Eating Las Vegas: The 50 Essential Restaurants – John Curtas, Max Jacobson and Al Mancini – have sifted through the city’s culinary cacophony and selected their top five destinations to eat, and drink, while ringing in 2013 (Pictured: Bagatelle Restaurant & Supper Club).

“John, Max and I came up with this list based on a combination of diversity, amenities and stellar dining options,” said Eating Las Vegas co-author, Al Mancini.  “Four of these restaurants are in strip resorts, but all boast entirely different dining options.  Two (Rattlecan and Serendipity) are located directly on Las Vegas Boulevard, with prime access to people watching on the strip and the Stratosphere boasts the best view of the city.”

Bagatelle Restaurant & Supper Club
The just-opened Bagatelle Las Vegas offers a New Year’s Eve dinner gala featuring singer, Robin Thicke, with additional music by DJ Stan Courtois.  Dinner reservations start at 6pm and the party goes until 4am.  Bagatelle offers a tremendous assortment of packages, great for couples or large parties, that want to enjoy dinner and then settle in for a night of entertainment.  Bagatelle is located across from MGM Grand and adjacent to Tropicana, with a convenient valet drop-off just steps from the restaurant.  Dinner reservations can be made by calling (702) 701-0200 or emailing VIPLV@BagatelleAmerica.com. Honey Salt
This brand new neighborhood restaurant, located about 10 miles west of The Strip in Summerlin, is offering a five-course meal starting at 9pm for $135.  Chef Kim Canteenwala has put together a menu that includes an iced  seafood platter, Perigord winter truffle risotto, a choice of halibut or surf & turf, baked Alaska and a special “New Year’s First Kiss” made with dark chocolate and pink peppercorn Bouchon and raspberry claufoutis.  Reservations can be made by calling (702) 445-6100.  Learn more at www.HoneySalt.com.

Rattlecan
This brand new spot in The Venetian from Chef Sammy DeMarco features the work of some of the world’s most renowned graffiti artists.  They’re offering several packages, but the most interesting are an open bar from 10pm – 12am on its patio for $77.  It features a DJ, unlimited beer and well drinks and a great view of the canals, the Venetian’s “Winter in Venice” skating rink, and of course, the fireworks.  Afterwards, you can get a late night meal from 12 to 2am featuring a burger, fries, a shot and a beer for $30. Serendipity 3
Located in front of Caesars Palace, this restaurant is dead center on the Las Vegas Strip and perfect for people-watching and catching the fireworks.  The restaurant is offering an a la carte menu for the evening, and its $50 admission fee provides guests with unlimited champagne during dinner and a gift bag. Stratosphere
The Stratosphere is offering several parties throughout the property,  but the most extravagant is a three-floor party on levels 103, 104 and 108. It includes three live DJs including DJ Mac, Go-Go dancers, elaborate food stations, chocolate fountain, living table sushi bar with Geisha Girl, candy extravaganza, four-hour open bar with premium brand liquor, specialty martinis served by secret angels, champagne toasts at midnight and party favors. Advance tickets to the party are $225 (inclusive of tax & gratuity) and runs from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. on New Year’s Eve.
