B.B. King to Perform at Veil Pavilion at Silverton Casino Hotel Nov. 25
The internationally known “King of the Blues” B.B. King will showcase his decades of talent on stage at Veil Pavilion at Silverton Casino Hotel November 25, 2011.

Born as Riley B. King, he started recording in the late ‘40s releasing more than 60 albums during his career. King experienced his first brush with major success when he performed on Sonny Boy Williamson’s radio program in 1948, which led to other performances and appearances. This was right around the time when he decided to change his name to B.B. King.

King had two No. 1 R&B hits with “Three O’Clock Blues” in 1951 and “You Don’t Know Me” in 1952. He then had four No. 2 R&B hits with “Please Love Me” in 1953, “You Upset Me Baby” in 1954, “Sweet Sixteen, Part I” in 1960 and “Don’t Answer The Door” in 1966.

He hit it big time and began touring around the country with about 125 concerts a year. King has always appealed to audiences due to his inherent love for music as well as his unique and precise vocals and guitar playing. He is one of the few performers to mix blues, jazz, swing and pop to create one phenomenal sound.

Performing at many illustrious venues, such as his performance at Montreux Jazz Festival in 1967 and the Newport Folk Festival in 1968 King finally made a name for himself that is big enough for many future generations to hear his name and be able to name at least one of his famous hits.

With other performers taking notice and wanting to be a part of the life of a musical icon, King has opened a number of shows for the Rolling Stones and has shared a stage with the iconic Tina Turner. King started the ‘90s off with a bang as he co-headlined the Phillip Morris Superband, five continent world tour with the legendary Ray Charles.

Throughout his career, he has received numerous awards honoring his hard work and indisputable talent. He received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1987, the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame Lifetime Achievement Award in 1990, the Presidential Medal of the Arts in Washington D.C. in 1990 in which former President Bush was in attendance and he even got his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1991.

Continuing on with his success streak, he received the Kennedy Center Honors in 1995 as well as the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Blue Foundation in 1997.

With 15 Grammys under his belt and a world full of people who view him as a musical genius, B.B. King is and has been a force to be reckoned with and one performer not to be missed.
