Maher, known to be controversial on his HBO show Real Time with Bill Maher, didn’t disappoint- bringing the same energy and level of comedy live to the fans. He told the Palms team earlier that night that he was excited to kick off his residency at the Palms and was looking forward to the remaining dates. Maher has another show tonight (Sunday) and then returns with the following dates: June 8 &9, Sept. 6 & 7 and Nov. 2 & 3. Tickets for those remaining shows will go on sale Friday, March 29 at noon.

For the last 20 years, Bill Maher has set the boundaries of where funny, political talk can go on American television. First on “Politically Incorrect” and for the last 10 years on HBO’s “Real Time,” Maher’s combination of unflinching honesty and big laughs have garnered him 29 Emmy nominations. In October of 2008, this same combination was on display in Maher’s uproarious and unprecedented swipe at organized religion, “Religulous,” directed by Larry Charles. The documentary has gone on to become the 8th highest grossing documentary of all time.

Politically Incorrect’s Greatest Hits,” “When You Ride Alone, You Ride with Bin Laden,” “New Rules: Polite Musings from a Timid Observer” and most recently, “The New New Rules: A Funny Look at How Everybody But Me Has Their Head Up Their Ass.”
