Bluesmen The Robert Cray Band Return to The Orleans Showroom May 18-19
Celebrated rhythm and blues musician Robert Cray, along with his band, will perform at The Orleans Showroom May 18 and 19.

Originally formed in 1974, the Northwest-based Robert Cray Band played gigs in Portland and Eugene, Oregon before branching out to Seattle and the San Francisco area. Early on, the band toured with guitar great Albert Collins, and by 1983, they were sharing the stage at Carnegie Hall with the likes of John Lee Hooker and Willie Dixon.

A five-time Grammy award-winner who is recognized for his masterful work as a guitarist and multi-talented singer, songwriter and producer, Cray’s musical credits include playing with a cross-section of greats, including Chuck Berry, Keith Richards, Eric Clapton and Tina Turner.

The Robert Cray Band released its first album, “Who’s Been Talkin’?” in 1980, and has since released more than 15 albums. The 1986 release “Strong Persuader,” and 1988 release “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark” each earned a Grammy in the category of “Best Contemporary Blues Performance.” In 2012, “Nothin’ but Love” was released and reached No. 2 on the Billboard blues charts.

The other members of The Robert Cray Band are Tony Braunagel on percussion, Jim Pugh on keyboards and Richard Cousins on bass guitar.

Showtime each evening is 8 p.m. Tickets are available starting from $29.95, plus tax and convenience fees, and can be purchased at The Orleans Box Office or by calling 1-888-365-7111 or 702-365-7075.
