Bodies… The Exhibition Supports Breast Cancer Awareness Month with Special Locals Offer

Throughout the entire month of October, BODIES… The Exhibition offers pink-clad Nevada residents a complimentary audio tour with the purchase of admission to the Exhibition in an effort to educate and raise awareness for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Whether it’s a pink shirt, pink tie or a pair of pink socks, the Exhibition wants to share what’s inside the miraculous body with the hope that guests walk away feeling empowered and motivated to create positive lifestyle changes that may save their life.

According to Susan G. Komen’s website, the following lifestyle factors affect breast cancer risk:

  • Among American women, an estimated 230,480 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in 2011.
  • Being overweight before menopause decreases a woman’s risk; however, after menopause the risk increases by 30 to 60 percent.
  • Research compiled from 53 different studies showed that for every one alcoholic drink consumed per day, the risk of breast cancer increased approximately seven percent. Women who have two to three drinks per day have a 20 percent greater risk.
  • As a whole, evidence shows that regular exercise appears to lower breast cancer risk by approximately 20 percent. Furthermore, regular exercise after diagnosis increases overall survival among breast cancer survivors. This may be due to the positive mood and improved physical condition and movement that regular exercise promotes, which can enhance quality of life.

Described as a “life-changing experience,” BODIES…The Exhibition is one of the most fascinating and educational experiences in Las Vegas. The real human bodies have been meticulously dissected, preserved through an innovative process and respectfully presented, giving visitors the opportunity to view the beauty and complexity of their own organs and systems like never before. In addition to providing an up-close look inside our skeletal, muscular, respiratory and circulatory systems, the Exhibition encourages healthy lifestyle choices. Authentic human specimens illustrate the damage caused to organs by drinking, smoking, over-eating and lack of exercise.

To receive a complimentary audio tour, guests must purchase tickets to the Exhibition, wear an outwardly visible piece of pink clothing and show their Nevada ID at the box office. Regularly priced tickets are $32 for adults, $30 for seniors, $24 for children 4 – 12 years of age and $29 for locals. The Exhibition is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. with last admission at 9 p.m. It is recommended that children 12 and under are accompanied by a teacher or parent as an adult guide. For additional information or to reserve tickets by phone, call 800-557-7428 or 702-262-4400.
