Chris Weidman vs. Vitor Belfort Planned for Las Vegas

According to a report by http://norsk-casino.info/ , the UFC is said to be planning an upcoming middleweight title bout with champion Chris Weidman and top contender Vitor Belfort later this year in Las Vegas, Nevada.

UFC CEO and co-owner Lorenzo Fertitta talked about the plans via text message on Thursday, January 2nd, 2014. According to Fertitta, “Depending on Chris Weidman, I’d like to do Vegas [in] May or July.”

The words “depending on Weidman” are likely referring to the knee injury Weidman hinted at in his post-fight interview at UFC 168, but Lorenzo’s committal to a Vegas showcase has got to please fans hoping to see Belfort fight in the States for the first time since 2011.

Previously, there has been controversy surrounding Belfort and his use of Testosterone INSERT ment Therapy (TRT) and him being able to attain a therapeutic use exemption (TUE) for the procedure in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In October 2006, Belfort failed a drug test for steroids following his Pride FC 32 bout against Dan Henderson. If the fight takes place in Las Vegas, Belfort would have to apply for a TUE from the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

The NSAC has previously approved TUEs for other UFC fighters in the past. However, the past failed drug test could make it harder for Belfort to receive a TUE from the NSAC.

If the bout finally takes place, Chris Weidman, the “All-American” fighter, will defend his title again after recently defeating former champion Anderson “The Spider” Silva via second-round TKO.
